My Take
One of the highlights of the Jubilee Year of Mercy was the canonization of Mother Teresa, considered in her life to be a saint and a conduit of God's mercy. When a person is canonized, the postulator often writes a definitive biography, but for Mother Teresa a different approach was taken. Fr. Brian Kolodiejchuk, MC, has compiled never-before-published writings of Mother Teresa and moving eye-witness testimony of her in action. "A Call to Mercy" is biographical in a truly practical and pastoral sense, offering Mother's words of wisdom for putting mercy into action.
“A Call to Mercy describes the daily encounters and actions of St. Mother Teresa and renders her accessible as a model for us on our journey of love. It is easy to put her on a pedestal and give ourselves a pass. As Mother invited, taught and engaged her sisters to attend to those who suffer, she beckons us too. A Call to Mercy reminds us that all works of mercy begin at a very simple place: in prayer whereby we put Christ into our hearts and from there on recognize His cry "I thirst" in the poor, abandoned and oppressed.”
