Bangladesh, the world's eighth-most populous country, is a small but densely populated country with more than 170 million people. Bangladeshis are religious minded with most citizens belonging to the Muslim faith. In fact, Bangladesh has the third-largest Muslim population in the world. Christians are a small minority - over 500,000 - of which 400,000 are Catholics. Despite its small size, the Church plays an important role particularly in the fields of health and education.
